I'm overwhelmed by the comments saying that I should re-open my blog.

There was even a threat that my IP would be banned from http://www.xanga.com/thinktanks and that's scary enough.

I've been writing over the past few days but I never posted any of them up.

There were things I had to write down since I've grown accustomed to my blog being an outlet for myself, as well as a documentation of my life. I want to look back and read about all the things I've done, the happy, that sweet..

Anyway, bottomline is, I'm gonna write again..

I'm pretty busy nowadays so I'm sorry if I don't write regularly, or if my posts are *yawn* boring.

Yesterday was the most fearful day of my life.

I thought I was gonna lose someone.

I almost got hit by a car yesterday.

If Yvonne hadn't pulled me, I'd be gone.
Even when she did, the car brushed past my leg,

That's a snippet of the job ad in the weekly uni magazine.

I'd expected not to get paid coz it IS work experience, so I was in for a surprise when Yvonne offered me $12.00 per hour (cash). That's without the ridiculous 30-40% tax which applies normally, so I guess its pretty good.

Its been very flexible. I've been working whenever I want to since its basically work from home, like sending out e-mails, contacting ppl, etc etc.. Getting paid working from home at my own pace is pretty darn good!

I'm pleased.

The only thing that Jay's not happy about is that I'm promoting a lesbian event.

He knew there HAD to be a catch!

I'm in it for the experience more than anything, and it just HAPPENED to be a lesbian event!

Its not everyday I come across a job opportunity like that which isn't a 9-5 job or anything.

Its hard to find casual work of this nature here.

So YEA!!

I'm enjoying myself AND getting paid. I'm not complaining!

Da Vinci Code

Watched Da Vinci Code today with Mike coz Carmen wanted to watch it with her friend in the afternoon instead. But I did bump into a whole bunch of Msian/Singaporean ppl, which was pretty good.

So many ppl've told me that it was crap, lowering my expectations.

In the end..
I thought it was alrite, coz my expectations were really low.
Mike thought it was alrite too, but in a bad way - he had higher expectations.

Mike told me before that he buys cheap umbrellas coz he knows he'll end up losing them anyway.
So.. this is the story of Mike's umbrella..

After dinner, I grabbed his umbrella for him.
Close call.
When he was going out of the theatre, he remembered his umbrella.
Close call.
When he went ot the toilet, holding his umbrealla as well as his friend's bucket of popcorn,
he came out only with the bucket of popcorn.
He realised it only when we were reaching home.


I thought that the French girl who acted as Sophie was not a really good actress..
but oh well..

Now I cant wait to go watch X-Men III!!!!

Funny Moments

Carmen was doing stuff on the computer while Alex was sleeping on his bed.
Suddenly, she heard him saying

leapt up from his bed,

John wrote 'Yes' and 'No' on either side of his eraser, asked questions, and threw it to see what the answer was!

That started a whole game of asking silly questions before throwing the eraser!

Is Shuen/Carmen retarded?

At one point, the eraser rolled onto Alex's upper thigh (he was sitting).
Carmen said, "It's not counted!!!"
"Coz it fell on your dick!!" I continued
Carmen then said, between laughs..
" NO!! His dick isn't that LONG!!"
"Ooops!! Sorry I overestimated your dick length, Alex!"

The reason for this closure was the reason it existed - to keep in touch with my close friends.

To form some kinda connection with them. To let them know what goes around in my mind everyday, whether random or serious.

That was the primary reason.

There were many other sub reasons, but that was the major reason, the first and foremost.

Since I don't think most of them read it anyway, I wondered if my blogging effort was going to waste.

Yes, it seems that they probably don't read it (except dear Tina)..
but I'm very surprised and comforted by the comments from the few others who do..
especially those whom I don't know well..

Today was a very satisfying day! :D

I think I've reached a point where I should catalogue every single item I have in my wardrobe so that I wont ever sing the 'I-have-nothing-to-wear' blues (which I so often do, and then use that as an excuse to go out shopping.. *tsk tsk*)

When I was on the bus,
I realised that the guy sitting next to me was checking out this other girl who was standing up.
She's undeniably gorgeous!
(I cant say the same for a lot of girls who also have a pimple here and there on a make-up free face..)
I was pretty sure that almost all the guys in the bus were checking her out..
even I checked her out, and was mesmerized..
but the guy next to me was so openly ogling at her, staring at her..
Even when she got off the bus, his eyes followed her..
When the bus passed her, he turned around to look at her as long as he could..
I bet he thought he could get away with it coz he wore sunnies..
But he probably forgot they were only half-tinted!

Made me feel as though I was sitting next to a sleazy pervert!

Equilibrium

Friday night was out with Winnie, Tracy, Dave and Andrew at Equilibrium.

RnB was REALLY slow that night! So we left after a couple of hours, at about 12, and headed to Maccas on George St. We sat and chatted for SO long, I got back at about 3.

I wore the top Tina and I bought at MNG! Remember that top, Tina???

DRAGON BOAT

I fell asleep only about about 6.00am and was expected to be at the Village Green to meet up with the Msian crew for Dragon Boating at 10.00am!
...Which meant that I had to get up at.. 9.00am!
.........Which meant that I had just 3 hrs of sleep!

But I had LOTS of fun anyway!

Dragon Boating rocks my socks! (man, I'm getting cornier everyday!)

But now my ass-bone (Carmen corrected me and said 'pelvic bone' but I like 'ass-bone' better! :P) and upper back are so damn painful!

I think I need to fatten my ass up!
I always feel like I'm sitting on my bone instead of a cushioned seat!
Not a nice feeling, I tell you!

Second round went to UTS.

So, we had the tie-breaker..

I got back after dragon boating at around 6.30pm.
And was expected to go clubbing at Space with Alex, Pinky, John, Peter and Carmen.

We waited in line for damn bloody long..

Carmen is one helluva dancer.
Pinky is so sweet and pretty, guys at tables in Hungry Jacks stare as she walks.
Alex is so messed up emotionally.
Peter is horny!! (hhahaha.. he's so gonna kill me for writing that!)
John is undergoing a makeover which involves a haircut, piercing and contact lenses.

The night ended with a slumber party at Alex's.

English Name

I had a theory that no one calls me back for employment when I apply for jobs coz they can't pronounce my name, 'Shuen'.

They probably take a look at my name, crack their heads for 10 mins trying to figure out how to pronounce my name and say, 'Ahhh.. Fuck it! NEXT!!!'

My wonderful friends decided to help me come up with some English names to go with my last name(surname).

Candy Chiu was Carmen's idea.

Well, I'm gonna try the other branch at Darling Harbour tomoro.. hopefully they have my sizes!

Bought a vest today for $30.00 off its original price of about $50.00, which I think is pretty good.. but since I dont really have many pieces to match it with, I might return it!

I love the refund policies here!!

I just returned this Portmans belt that I didn't like.. and got a full refund!

And just because I changed my mind and didn't like it anymore..

If only more things in life came with refunds!!

Happy Day!

Wanted to watch the Da Vinci Code and started messaging Alex, Carmen, Chris, John, Mike, Peter and Ziv.

Alex decided that its more worth it spending his time with Pinky, and so, ditched us.
Chris never replied.
Peter had to work on an assignment. So did Ziv.

In the end, it was just Carmen, John, Mike and I.

Carmen was going to King's Street to get a top that she really wanted.
Only, she was 2 weeks late..
The top was so popular, it was SOLD OUT!

I reckon that should never ever ever happen to something you like so much!

Anyway, since she had reserved cash for shopping, we decided to get something anyway and headed on down the street.

We saw shoes.
It was 2 pairs for $49!

"Shuen! Remember! You've gotta save for the Melbourne Trip!! No shopping! NO SHOPPING, Shuen!!" I told myself.

But the lure of the shoes were strong,
the temptation... the hypnosis...
I am strong
..but the (temptation of the) shoes were stronger!

And so.. I ended up buying 2 pairs of shoes..

Never would I have imagined that there would be SOLD OUT tickets to a movie in AUSTRALIA!!! NO ONE ever watches movies here!!!

I was all hyped up for nothing!How upsetting..

But the night turned out to be good anyway!
We went to Badde Manors on Glebe Point Road for 'dinner'.
I tell you, random bonding chats with friends are the best!

Ohhh, and I've gotta say this..

Badde Manors serves one of the BEST Choc Mud Cake I've ever eaten!! Didn't take any pics of the Mud Cake, unfortunately.

I'd expected nostalgic memories to pop up as I walk down Glebe Point Road, but I was fine.
I was fine.
I guess that meant that I've gotten over everything and am happy with this phase of my life right now.

I promised Winnie that I'll go RnB-ing at Equilibrium this Friday.
I promised Sandy I'll go to the Messy Cruise,
but only because...I thought the Messy cruise was gonna be NEXT Friday!

Now they BOTH fall on the same day?

How?

I could go for both since the Messy cruise thing says 7.30pm-10.30pm (yea right, like it's gonna end at 10.30pm!!).
So, after 10.30pm, I COULD hop over to Equilibrium to RnB with Winnie!

Sounds like a plan right???

OR

I could just skip Messy cruise altogether.
It DOES cost $35.. which could get me an OK-looking top from somewhere!

I mean, at this point, shopping's more satisfying than booze or food!

And my rationale???

Shopping doesn't make you fat.
Booze and Food do.

Shopping requires energy (think trying out clothes, walking around, doing mental arithmetics..etc) thus aiding in weight loss/fitness.
Booze and Food just help you pile on your weight.

Shopping releases endorphins (conclusion based on the fact that I'm always happier after shopping)
Booze and Food just make you feel dull and drowsy.

See where I'm getting at??

Conclusion : Shopping's better than eating/drinking!

A while back, I was chatting to Alex about girls etc.
I've always wondered what kinda girls guys are really looking for.
In Alex and Chris, I found similar answers.
They've divided girls into 3 categories - CUTE, ELEGANT and HOT

I'd go for a girl who's ELEGANT or maybe CUTE.
Yea, I'd go for a girl who's ELEGANT.
What about the HOT one then?
Nah, she'd go off running to another guy in 5 mins. Hot girls are for flings.

Yeah, and I want an elegant one so that she carries herself well at dinner parties and stuff (this statement from one of em who's grown up going to all sorts of formal parties thanks to his dad's profession)
What IS elegant anyway? How do you define 'ELEGANT'?Gimme an example of someone who is.

One of the girls from Twins. Reanne's (a mutual friend) pretty elegant too, and this girl from TSA (Taiwanese Students' Association) is by far the most elegant I've seen here.


From all the examples given, it seems to me that Asian guys like soft, quiet girls.

Apart from Catherine Zeta-Jones,
the rest of the examples are quiet, gentle girls..
you know, that kind where you feel as though they'd crumble once you speak a little louder to them.



I've always thought that ELEGANT ladies would be one who's like Julie Andrews (the queen in Princess Diaries) or a few of some other older women I know.

Nothing like the 'softies' the guys just illustrated.

Can I then just draw a general conclusion from these guys' opinions,
as well as other experiences by girls who 'lost' their guys to 'softer quieter more feminine' girls...
that Asian guys like softies as opposed to strong, opinionated ones?

Alex always complains about Asian girls gettin 'robbed' by 'other' guys.

Well, this I say..
since Asian guys like ELEGANT + CUTE girls,
the rest of the girls would definitely find someone ELSE who like them the way they are.



I'm not one who has any racial preference when it comes to guys - I just haven't dated an Asian guy ('asian' here excludes south asians).
Yea, and Alex, you wonder why..

I don't think I'm all THAT ELEGANT or CUTE or HOT..
I'm probably not your usual female species anyway..
alrite, I'm just a really messed-up girl..(OMG, this sounds like something ALEX would say to me!)

Reasons I'm not your typical girl :

1) My friends here are 98% guys
2) I don't get jealous all that easily
3) I check out girls
4) I jump and run about
5) I sometimes think like a guy (in terms of relationships)

I dont think I'm REALLY CUTE,

I dont think I'm REALLY HOT..

So, how do I find guys if I'm ever faced with THAT situation??

is a pretty darn good place to shop!!!!

It's up north and I need to take a 30min train ride to get there. But it's definitely worth the time!

Chatswood Chase is like the first 'proper' mall I've been to! I've almost lost all hope of seeing a mall of KLCC/MV/1-U class.. until I saw Chatswood Chase..

I'm gonna go back there with Carmen one of these days!!!

Have so much inspiration to shop (eeek!!) after browsing through celebritystyleguide.com!

I think my fashion celebrity idol would be Victoria Beckham! Yes, yes, I don't find many ppl who actually like her, but I think that lady's got good taste in fashion!

She incorporates current trends into her own stylish, classy fashion unlike other celebrities who just mix and match whatever the current trend is, irregardless of whether they look good or not!

Fashion trends come and go.. but crisp, sharp, classy chic clothes hardly ever.

I think I'd wanna have a Nicole Richie+Victoria Beckham sense of style! That'd be perfect! Young trendy meets sexy classy!
